The remastered sound is very good-clean and fairly open sounding. And check out the photo of the beautiful naked woman on the inside panels of the wallet-style cardboard package and on the disc itself. There's also a double sided folded sheet with notes on the group included. Both albums are a curiously nice addition to my shelf of relatively little known bands. Maybe yours too. My brother came over one day and handed me a copy of this album.
He bought one in a cutout bin for. I've never heard anything to compare this to. All original material driven by a tight, thumping band. Joe" is outstanding but so is "Pate Fois Gras" followed by the self-titled instrumental "Rumplestiltskin". As good and tight bass licks as you'll ever hear. Even Shel Talmy, when asked to write the liner notes for this album, effectively said he really didn't know what to say and to listen to it and draw your own conclusions.
Completely overlooked '70's music. Their follow up effort is a dissappointment. One person found this helpful. One of the most under-rated albums of the 70's A lost gem of bluesey rock and roll with some of the best keyboard and bass playing you'll ever hear. Pretty dated, but worth purchasing. At times, the singer reminds me of Tony Bennett. You would be mistaken, wonderfully, if you bought this thinking it was a great lost blaxploitation album.
Never judge a book by its cover, and apply the same Knock On My Door - Rumplestiltskin - Rumplestiltskin (Vinyl to music. Mix growling guitar riffs--rumor is this is Jimmy Page, who played sessions with Rumplestiltskins producer Shal Tammy--with winding prog essays. Add soul-ish vocals from Peter Lee Green, and you have one hell of a musical cocktail.
What makes this album work so well is the care taken in welding the different styles together. If this all sounds like early art-rock indulgence, a listen will prove this notion wrong.
This is not the half-baked, cut-the-tape-loop mess of B-grade dawn of the 's rock, but a complex, perfectly planned synergy LP styles, all fleshed for maximum impact. Art-rock that actually rocks. Perhaps this wound up in cut out pins because no one could pin Rumplesstitskin down.
Even in the genre ignoring world of early's rock, Album), it was not easy to find an album that touched so many bases so fully, and so well. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. If you're familiar with Donovan's 'Hurdy Gurdy Man' track and the 'to-die-for' guitar playing therein, if I told you the guitarist who played on it also plays guitar on this album you'd know why it's a bit of a corker.
For me, the cartoon album sleeve has always been attractive, but I don't think I saw it, or the topless chick who must be about 60 now in the gatefold to tempt me into buying it. And for its time, 'Make me Make You' was and still is quite some 'heavy' track, man; and that's without me sounding too much like Neil the hippie from The Young One's, because hey, we're getting close to 60 now and we talked like that first!
And time hasn't been unkind to this Rumplestiltskin album, and it still stands proud today, and even though there are no 'bum' tracks on here and all the others are very listenable, 'Make Me Make You' is the bee's knees as far as I'm concerned.
And now it's a Limited Edition of 3, copies in a CD sized copy of that original gatefold sleeve, so you'd better get a move on, there are only 2, still out there!
I have a good vinyl copy of this so knew what to expect. It won't be to everyone's taste but I personally think it is a splendid album. Report abuse. Fell for the hype. Very average 70s session men enlisted to make producer money. They made two albums then went back to the day job. Imagine Mungo Jerry doing rock This is just a.

Re: Rumplestiltskin We have produced some good bands, but no where near the pedigree of your little island. I always smile when I think about the prehistory of England's musical explosion, back in the days of the great composers they were way behind most other European countries, and as a direct result if I remember correctly either a Royal decree or government order to make learning music a mandatory part of the school system.
One of the "Brighter" moves any country has made over the last couple of centuries I would have to say. Jul 16, at AM 7.
