Top positive review. Reviewed in the United States on September 18, Neil Cowley is a musical genius. That is all. One person found this Fragile State - The Facts And The Dreams (CD. Top critical review. Reviewed in the United States on September 15, Album), This is definitely chillout. However, theres nothing about this album thats electronic. The album has a lot of keyboards, light drumbeats and, some piano elements very loungy. What I didn't like were that some of the tracks sounded too alike and were too mellow and boring to listen even further.

These so-called elements of the contemporary jazz thing are ominous, but not exclusive. To say this music is laid back would also be an understatement.

Easy listening might apply, but not in the sense of a bunch of east coast retirees hanging beachside in southern Florida. What we do have here are these two dudes with the substantial credentials who compose and execute some amazing sonic material. Some of the songs have such a deft and delicate touch they almost come off as atmosphere. This is a good thing though as repeated listening can take you Album) lofty places.

They are infectious and fetching in their immediate attraction. Some might have a tendency to easily dismiss this whole affair as "muzak", but what we do have here is a very engaging and beautiful collection great music.

In tough times it's nice to have a soft touch around - adult listening at it's finest. Instructions read: please apply generously. Fantastic debut album from the two male artists Neil cowley and Ben Mynott. The album is one long pleasant dream. It is Album) the best downtempo album to come in this year, and I will recommend it to everyone who are into the laid-back genres, like easy-listening and lounge. Sit back, and enjoy. 5. AllMusic Review by Johnny Loftus [+] The Facts and the Dreams is the full-length debut for Fragile State, which features Neil Cowley and Ben Mynott. It's a precise approach to downtempo, designed not as a narcotic stimulant, but a thoughtful relaxant. After a generic opening track that's neither here nor there, the State drops the pristine piano and plucked guitar intro of "Barney Fade."6/
